APS Custom guitars has been voted "Best New Artist for 2009" at the Calgary Stampede "Western Art Auction".  I am very excited about this award and would like to thank everyone at the Western Art Auction for putting on such a great event.  I wanted to talk to the winning bidder but he was out of there so quickly that I did not have a chance to catch him.  I'm sure he was rushing home to start playing his new guitar.   If he happens to read this.......please e-mail me.  Below are some pictures of the guitar, ribbon, and award.  These "live edge" guitars are amazing.  Get yours today.

I have just completed the first production bass for APS Custom.  I will have to re-work the site a little bit to include a tab for the basses but for right now this page will have to do.  Here are a few pictures of the new design.

It is a Jatoba back with a spalted/flamed maple top.  3 piece laminated neck.  Rosewood fingerboard and fender style bridge.  It plays like a dream.

Hey everyone!

As you can see on some of the pages I have a new guitar of sorts.  It is the "my first custom".  In these hard economic times people need some cost options for cool electric guitars....and I have them.  I have introduced the "distressed" finish line of guitars.  These guitars are still build by me but have lower cost electronics, and hardware.  Due to their low cost I can't allow customization of these instruments, they come with the following specs.

Poplar body wood.  bolt-on Maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, single bridge humbucking pickup, single volume knob,  Fender style bridge, chrome hardware.  The control cavity is the same that I use for my standard customs so switches and so on can be added later on.  They come in high gloss black, red, and blue solid color, or  distressed finishes only.  They include a good quality gig bag.  These guitars are still amazing instruments, and can be upgraded as money permits.  They are a flat cost of $825.00 Canadian dollars, shipping extra.  As I said, NO substitutions are allowed at time of purchase.  And I must add.....You will NEVER find a better custom build guitar for less money (hell, not even close) then these low cost models.  They sound great, and play great.

I am starting to offer the solid color or distressed finish on my high-end models as well.  However, if you spend the money on the high-end model I feel you should still be able to see and feel the amazing wood that I use......just my thoughts.

Contact me for more information, or to place an order.  Remember, I take Visa, M.C. (both through paypal, you don't need a paypal account and only you see your card number), Paypal, or good old fashion money.

I have updated the pictures on the ASMetal page, check them out. You also need to check out the AS10Woodie. It's the second last set of pictures on the AS10 page. It's an amazing guitar. I will be building more of these "live edge" guitars in future. They won't be cheap, but damn they look and sound killer. Just finishing up a new bass. I've so many requests for basses that this one is going to be a prototype for my new production model. All the guitars on the site are handcrafted my me, Andy Speake, one at a time. that's all for now. Thanks for your support, and keep rocking with APS Custom. If you don't have one, you might want to call me

APS Custom guitars recently donated a guitar to the Raincoast Conservation Foundation (www.raincoast.org).  A raffle was held at the folk festival in Duncan, B.C. and the lucky winner was Ryk Ryce.

Ryk (left) is the proud new owner of an AS10BT.  Presenting the guitar is Andy Speake (right), Owner of APS Custom guitars.  Congratulations Ryk.  And thanks for supporting both APS Custom guitars and the Raincoast Conservation Foundation!

Just wanted to thank everyone who purchased the AS**BT models that have been on sale the last little while.  I know you will enjoy the guitars just as much as I enjoyed building them.

I also wanted to let everyone know that I am currently building a lower cost handcrafted version of my guitars.  They should be ready for unveiling within the next month.  They are still great guitars, just without the bells and whistles.  So stay tuned for that!

Just got back from the Cochrane trade show and, just like Airdrie, the show was fantastic. A big thank you to all the people who came out and tried the guitars. Again, a big thanks to Community Futures West for allowing us to share their booth space. It was a great show and lots of fun to get out and meet the people who are making APS Custom guitars a success.

April 30

I attended the Airdrie, AB trade show this past weekend and the reaction to our sample guitars was fantastic. THANK YOU to everyone who checked out the guitars and thanks for the great positive feedback. And a big thanks to the Community Futures West group who allowed us to setup in their booth, it was awesome.

We will be attending the Cochrane, AB trade show this coming weekend May 5-6 so come on down and check us out there.

We have a few new additions to the guitar line ups. We are now building carved tops for each of the lines we carry. They are currently in production and should be ready within the next month.

The ASMETAL line of guitar that says it will be ready for Jan 07 has run into some problems. I am currently redesigning it and should be ready in a few months. Very sorry for the delay, but it will be worth the wait.

We need some updated pics. I know, I know. I don't have pics of the Zebrawood, or Cherry topped guitars. We will be getting some new pictures shortly so you can see the new models and the cool things we are doing with them.

Last but not least, Drop me a line (andy@apscustom.com), let me know what you like, don't like, or what you would like to see on our guitars. Any input is always helpful in making a better guitar for you. Take care and keep on Rockin'

We got lots of ideas for new guitars, and got a bunch of thinks signed from many of the rock stars that were making the rounds. A great event, and a great time was had by all.
